The Albanian government has begun efforts to document with legal evidence the destruction of the Albanian Consulate in Ukraine by a Russian attack.

From sources aware of this effort initiated by Prime Minister Edi Rama and being followed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani, but a correspondence has already started between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Albanian General Prosecutor's Office and that of Ukraine.

The head of the Albanian prosecution, Olsian Cela, sent his Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Kostin a few days ago, a request to be updated regarding the collection of evidence requested by the Albanian side. In the first letter from Top Channel, Attorney General Olsian Cela says:

"This request follows the referral by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. We are looking for information on the progress of the proceedings dated 9.11.2022 registered in the Kharkiv Region Public Prosecutor's Office, regarding the event of March 6, 2022, where the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Albania, as well as the residence of the Honorary Consul Mr. Shahkin Omarov, was object of the attacks of the Russian forces, resulting in their destruction".

Albania's first request of this kind comes after strong pro-Ukraine positions from our country as a participant in the UN Security Council, from where there was a strong clash between Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Russian ambassador to the council, where he was invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke/Top Channel
