Journalist ironizes Spiropal's post: When anyone who shakes your hand becomes a "friend," the word loses all value

Journalist ironizes Spiropal's post: When anyone who shakes your hand

Journalist and analyst Lutfi Dervishi, known for his biting irony, has not unintentionally shared a post on the Facebook social network of Parliament Speaker Elisa Spiropali.

Dervishi elaborates on the post, which refers to a meeting in Brussels where Spiropali addressed the Ukrainian parliament speaker as "my good friend."

According to him, the word "friend" is being devalued, being used inappropriately and inappropriately.

Dervishi even tells an episode about an Albanian Interior Minister who called a counterpart from another country "my friend," who told his Albanian counterpart to his face that we don't know each other, he doesn't know why he calls me a friend.

Lutfi Dervishi's full post:

"My friend....

In our tradition, the word "friend" is not just any word. It actually derives from the Latin "amicus" but, in these lands, it has taken on the value of a close bond, a bond of honor, even spiritual.

"The Albanian's home belongs to God and to his friend," says Kanuni. "A good friend in bad times," says popular wisdom. "Better a friend than a fief," history proves.

Today, the word "friend" is being devalued, being used inappropriately and inappropriately.

In the Kanun, the word "friend" is associated with honor and hospitality. A friend was protected with life, was considered sacred, and even an enemy would not touch one's friend, otherwise he would have two blood debts. A friend was a trust.

Today, it's enough for someone to "friend" you on Facebook and write: "We're friends."

A story not just for laughs.

An Interior Minister from an EU country comes to Albania for the first time. He meets his Albanian counterpart.

At the media briefing, our Minister of Interior introduced "my friend...".

As soon as the foreign minister took the floor, and at that moment he cannot easily forget who was present, he said:

"I'm meeting the gentleman for the first time. I don't know why he calls me his friend."

"With my good friend, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine..." Avazi continues today. "With my good friend"?? Is there a bad friend?

While the people still welcome their friends with bread, salt, and a heart, officials call anyone who doesn't speak ill of them a friend.

When a "friend" becomes anyone who has shaken your hand or mentioned you in a speech, then the word is stripped of all value.

The fact that a senior official publicly corrected his Albanian colleague, clarifying that "we are not friends, we just met," makes everything even more ridiculous.

The word "friend" is for people who know each other, who share time, experiences, trust, respect, and responsibility.

If every guest, or person you meet for the first time, is called a friend, then no one is a friend anymore.
