PS request to KAS: Count valid votes even when the distinguishing mark is

The Socialist Party has submitted a request to the KAS, through which it requests that during the recount process, votes be counted for candidates even when the distinguishing mark is outside the square, but next to it.

In the letter to the KAS, the PS argues that they have been made aware that the revaluation of votes in the Tirana district has observed a practice that contradicts electoral practices over the years, as ballots where the distinctive sign expressing the voter's will was outside the box were considered invalid.

"Referring to decision no. 30, dated 25.04.2025, of the Regulatory Commission for the 'Working Guide for the Electoral Administration Zone Commissions and Vote Counting Groups for the elections to the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, in the case where the voter's mark on the ballot is not located inside the box corresponding to the respective candidate of the multi-name list, but the mark is made in such a way that it clearly indicates the will of the voter, the ballot is considered valid ," the request states.

The SP says that the assessment of these ballots as invalid affects the number of votes for the SP's preferential candidates and consequently brings about a change in the summary table, as has resulted up to this stage.
