Macron: France, Germany and Britain will make an offer for "full

France, Germany and the United Kingdom are ready to make an offer to Iran for "full negotiations," French President Emmanuel Macron said just hours before a diplomatic meeting is due to take place in Switzerland.

Macron warned that there should be "no concessions" when it comes to managing the prospect of a "nuclear-armed Iran," speaking to reporters.

"A return to negotiations must be absolutely a priority, including on the nuclear side - moving towards zero enrichment, ballistics to limit the capabilities and capacities of the Iranians and the financing of all terrorist groups that destabilize the region," Macron said.

Macron's Foreign Minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, and his German and British counterparts will make an "offer for full negotiations: diplomatic and technical" to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Macron said.

The meeting between the three European nations and Iran is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. local time (9 a.m. ET) in the Swiss city of Geneva.

Barrot briefed Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday on the Europeans' "planned approach" to meeting with the Iranian foreign minister on Friday, a French diplomat told CNN .

Rubio, according to this diplomat, stressed during the call that the US is "ready for direct contact with the Iranians at any time."

Barrot and Rubio agreed to hold a follow-up call on Friday to discuss the Geneva meeting and continue coordination, the diplomat said.
