KAS dismisses SP over vote revaluation

The KAS has rejected the request of the Socialist Party , which requested that votes be considered valid even in cases where the voting sign x or + is placed outside the square, in the case of votes for candidates, but is done in such a way that it clearly shows the will of the voter.

KAS member Ledio Braho explained to the media why the decision was made to reject the Socialist Party's request.

"Even the manual approved by the regulatory commission, that we base the vote evaluation on the Electoral Code and the instructions issued by the Regulatory Commission. The instructions are clear that when the cross placed in the column of a subject is not within the square that is for candidates, then the vote is considered valid only for the electoral subject.

"We have maintained this position, and if it is not in the candidate's respective box, it cannot be counted as a vote for the candidate. We have maintained the objective assessment that if a cross is placed sideways, it makes it unclear which candidate it is for ," Brahaj said.

He explained that today's decision can be appealed by both the Socialist Party and other parties to the Electoral College.
