"SPAK as a political actor"/ Kalaja: It only acts on the messages sent

Lawyer Adriana Kalaja commented this Friday on the latest political developments regarding the May 11 elections, and the approach that the Special Prosecution Office has taken towards the case.

Invited to Syri TV, Kalaja stated that SPAK is not taking any action regarding the denunciations made for manipulation of the electoral process. She says that with this stance SPAK is legitimizing all the accusations raised, while she described the latter as a political actor.

Kalaja has further raised accusations that according to her, it is the head of the government, Rama, who decides who should go to SPAK and who should not. According to her, the Special Prosecutor's Office is entirely under Rama's command.

Flavio Qarri: What is SPAK doing after May 11, what is it doing specifically?

Adriana Kalaja: It doesn't seem like anything new to me, at least it doesn't seem like anything in terms of the implementation of the tasks that SPAK has. It's that old game of ending the elections and then pretending that we are fighting electoral crime, especially because we are close to the elections. And on the other hand, the way SPAK operates legitimizes all the accusations raised by the fact that it has no intention of shedding light on electoral crime at any time, but also on corruption or other crimes for which we have in fact had over 80 criminal reports. And on the other hand, it continues, but I don't know what has happened. Maybe it's also this strengthening of Edi Rama's power that they no longer have the shame or the nerve to hide, what they used to do, for example, that they used to do a little timidly, not with such arrogance in the eyes of the public. For example, to delay for a period of 60 days the arrest measures for the Durrës group or the case of Benet Beci since November 2024. While SPAK knew very well that Beci was also appointed political leader of Shkodra. Who should we take to analyze. Is there any difference between what happened and what happened in 2021. So Rama, that's what he needs. Rama has two points of view. And in these two goals, his main partner is SPAK. First, he has the main goal of winning the elections and secondly, brainwashing the population to say that, look, whoever violates the law if we do not intervene, it is independent justice. So he has best achieved both of these for the sake of truth and I have stated in this studio, I continue to declare that everything in SPAK is acted upon only on the messages sent by Edi Rama.

Flavio Qarri: So another political actor practically?

Adriana Kalaja: He is the most important actor in fact and Rama does not need a coalition with other parties, nor the strengthening of pious elements or people with integrity within the party. Rama has a clear scheme to take people supported by crime, take people whose list is made by crime and at the end of the elections with the theory of self-purification, because that is how the communists have it, hand over to SPAK what he wants. So no more than any Edi Rama. I do not know how they have the courage. For me, the reaction of international organizations that evaluate the work of SPAK is a great shamelessness. Because I am ready to analyze all SPAK files and see what serious problems it has and what serious problems are related to human rights problems. What serious constitutional violations it has. These are all issues that risk being won in the Strasbourg Court, creating a very big problem not only with the performance of justice but above all with the state budget, because it is money that will be paid by us and on the other hand, if we refer even to organized crime, I do not know of a file that is a product of SPAK. So every file comes from partners and even in this case, apart from the opposition, I am taking what SPAK does for organized crime. It is expected to get the next victory and then act.
