Reported missing a day ago, elderly man found dead in Peqin

An elderly man was found dead near an irrigation canal in the village of Fatishe in Peqin. The victim has been identified as ND, 84, who was reported missing by his son yesterday morning. 

A few hours later, the elderly man was found without signs of life and it is suspected that he accidentally fell into the canal and drowned as a result.

"On 19.06.2025, citizen ID, 38 years old, resident of the village of Fatishe, reported that on the morning of this date, his father, citizen ND, 84 years old, who suffers from sclerosis, had left the apartment.

Immediately after the report, the Police services carried out checks to find the 84-year-old man, who was found at around 19:00, without signs of life, in the irrigation canal near the apartment.  From the first investigative actions and the preliminary examination of the 84-year-old's body, no signs of violence were found.

"It is suspected that he accidentally fell into the canal and drowned as a result," the police announced.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office.
