Former President Rexhep Mejdani "against" the decision to dismiss Meta

The former President of the Republic of Albania, Rexhep Mejdani does not seem to share the same opinion with the Socialists for the dismissal of Ilir Meta.

In a statement for Euronews Albania, Mejdani said that one should think with deep prudence before taking concrete acts to accuse a head of state.

" Ask this question to the Socialist Party. "I have to think very well before the president is accused",   said Mejdani.

He said he hopes the Constitutional Court will make the right decision on the issue of Meta's dismissal.

" I hope that the Constitutional Court will make the right decision," added Mejdani.

On June 9, the Assembly voted with 104 votes in favor, seven against and three abstentions for the dismissal of President Ilir Meta with the main argument that he has seriously violated the Constitution.

But, despite the act of the Parliament, the final stamp for the dismissal or not of the President of the Republic is already in the hands of the institution of the Constitutional Court, which is also the highest body in the country.
