The richest in Albania have 5.9 times more income than the poorest

The rich in Albania have received an income 9.5 times higher than the rest of the population, categorized as the poor.

Scan Intel has made an analysis of the data of the "European Statistics Agency", for the year 2020, regarding the level of inequality between the 20% of the population with the highest income and the 20% of the population with the lowest income.

The analysis aims to measure inequality in income distribution.

According to the data, the income of the richest 20% of the population is 5.9 times higher than the income of the poorest 20% of the population. The figures show that the ratio in Albania is higher than the average of the European Union, which for 2020 is recorded at 4.8.

Comparing it with the countries of the region, Albania has the lowest ratio of inequality between the incomes of the richest and the poorest. The first place is held by Montenegro with 5.96, followed by North Macedonia with 5.92.
