After Arta Marku, Ardian Dvorani towards the "Constitutional"

After Arta Marku, the former head of the Judicial Appointments Council, Ardian Dvorani, has returned. The latter is running for the vacancy created by the end of Altin Binaj's mandate in the Constitutional Court.

The request was submitted to Parliament. The deadline for candidacies for the vacancy announced by the Assembly is February 14.

Dvorani was in the spotlight after the strong clashes he had with President Ilir Meta. The debate followed various interpretations of the Constitution on the election of new members of the Constitutional Court.

The president claimed that the head of KED had violated the Constitution by not respecting the order of appointments, while Dvorani and the parliamentary majority thought that the President had violated the Constitution by appointing Marsida Xhaferllari as a judge even though she had missed the 30-day deadline set by law.

Meta claimed that the main reason for not setting up the Constitutional Court was to block the functioning of the Judicial Appointments Council (KED) for two years in order for Ardian Dvorani to head it.

The President of the Republic filed a criminal lawsuit against the former head of KED, Ardian Dvorani, and took the report to three prosecutor's offices at the same time, the General Prosecutor's Office, the Serious Crimes Prosecutor's Office and the Tirana Prosecutor's Office.

Dvorani was accused by the head of state of "abuse of office" and "misappropriation of state title or office" in connection with the procedures followed for the establishment of the Constitutional Court.

At the time, Meta also posted spots on social media, claiming that Dvorani was being used to capture the Constitutional Court and considering him a "blind party soldier".
