Taxes warn of on-site inspection for invoice sales of agricultural products

The sale of agricultural and livestock products, both in wholesale and retail markets in the country, will have to be accompanied by a fiscalized invoice and a label of the origin of the goods, otherwise traders will be fined.

The Tax Administration informs taxpayers who carry out activities in the agricultural and livestock products trading sector, both wholesale and retail, that it has launched a campaign aimed at informing and raising awareness among traders with the aim of formalizing them and maintaining food safety for consumers.

Taxes clarify that the awareness campaign will last 2 weeks.

"Starting from (July 7, 2025) the Tax Administration announces that after analyzing the data on the commercial activity of this sector, for a 2-week period it will sensitize businesses through its communication channels or informational field visits to fulfill the legal obligation to issue fiscalized invoices for the products they trade.

According to Law No. 87/2019 “On the invoice and the circulation monitoring system”, article 6, point 3; article 7, point 2 and article 9, taxpayers must:

1- Every livestock and agricultural item that they dispose of and trade must be accompanied by a fiscalized purchase invoice, in which the seller is clearly and visibly identified, and consequently the origin of the product.
2- Every item that they trade to the final consumer must be accompanied by a fiscalized invoice, where the name and price of the product are accurately and visibly reflected.

After the end of the awareness campaign, the tax administration warns of field inspections, which will also be accompanied by penalties for cases of failure to issue fiscal invoices and failure to declare the origin of traded goods.

"The Task Force established for this purpose, composed of Tax Investigation inspectors and field monitoring inspectors, will launch on-site inspections to verify that every agricultural or livestock product is accompanied by a fiscalized tax invoice."

The Tax Administration invites you to declare your commercial activity accurately and completely, in accordance with the legal obligations in force, otherwise the lack of fiscalized invoices will result in penalties according to the legislation in force. / Monitor
