Police report released: Diogo Jota was driving the car in the accident that

Spanish police say "all evidence so far" indicates that Diogo Jota was driving the vehicle that crashed last week, killing the Liverpool footballer and his brother.

Authorities also said they believe evidence shows the vehicle "significantly exceeded the speed limit for the highway" it was traveling on, Sky News reports .

The accident happened at 12:30am local time on Thursday (11:30pm BST on Wednesday) on the A-52 motorway in the municipality of Cernadilla, Zamora.

"Among other things, the marks left by one of the vehicle's wheels are being examined," the Civil Guard statement in Zamora added.

Authorities said the report is not yet complete and will be "submitted to the court of Puebla de Sanabria."

The 28-year-old Portuguese striker died in the accident in northwestern Spain.

His brother, Andre Silva, was also killed in the accident on the Rias Bajas motorway (A-52) near Palacios de Sanabria, heading towards Benavente.
