Powerful attacks in Ukraine, Russian drones hit Kharkiv and Zaporizhia, dozens

At least 43 people were injured in Russian drone strikes on Ukraine's second-largest city, Kharkiv, officials said, as President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to Kiev's allies for more support.

Apartment buildings, a kindergarten and a regional military office were damaged in the two waves of attacks, local and military officials said.

During the second wave, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said six Shahed drones hit the city in northeastern Ukraine within 10 minutes, targeting “streets with buildings, cars and people.” He said a total of 43 people were injured in the two attacks.

Andriy Prenko, 61, said he was eating breakfast in his kitchen when he heard a drone approaching.
