Although the resignation of 21 directors of the Municipality of Vlora was ordered by him, Prime Minister Edi Rama has declared from the coastal city that these directors left of their own free will, after "they realized that they were not contributing to the municipality's work."

From Vlora, the head of government said that all leaders of local and central institutions will be replaced with new figures, while none of them will return to leadership positions.

According to Rama, the resignations are part of a "new political culture," where appointments will be based on merit and willingness to serve the city.

"The resigned municipality directors have shown that they are unsuitable to perform that task. While they may be given new opportunities in the future. But I want to appeal to all those who come to serve properly. We will be very demanding in terms of services and their appointment according to merit. The same will apply to the directors of central institutions in Vlora who have resigned. No person who has held public functions will be reappointed as a director at this stage. All directors will be taken on by new ones, everyone is welcome to contribute more to the city," he said.

Rama said he would base his assessment of the SP leaders on the service they provided to the party on May 11.

The socialist leader continued by dividing the mayors into categories, on the one hand parasites and on the other people who, according to Rama, are willing to serve Vlora.

"All heads of the political organization will be evaluated according to their service on May 11. Meanwhile, the party will be completely opened up to create new groups to invite new individuals to be contributors, and groups with citizens will also be opened to document everything on the ground in real time."

There is no left or right here, there are parasites and people who are ready to serve Vlora. The parasites are both left and right, while those who are capable are both left and right, we are with the latter, regardless of political affiliation. This is the approach we have chosen and I believe that this approach will only bring good things to Vlora", declared Rama.
