A police officer in Elbasan has been arrested after being accused of lending money at interest to various people and then threatening them.
Edison Pema, a Crime Investigation Specialist in the Narcotics Investigation Section at the Elbasan Police Department, has been arrested.
It is reported that Pema gave loans (usury) to various people and then, through threats or violence, coerced the latter into returning significant amounts of money.
Police say investigations are continuing to identify other possible individuals involved in this criminal activity.
