Fire situation in the country, 16 fires reported in 24 hours, 4 still active

Over the last 24 hours, 16 fires have been reported, of which 4 still remain active.

These outbreaks have been identified in the municipalities of Elbasan, Finiqi, Tirana, Vora, Durrës, Fier, Kuçova, Poliçan, Has, Vau i Dejës, Mati and Mirdita.

The active foci are as follows:

* Elbasan Municipality: Work continues at the waste dump to completely extinguish the flames. Yesterday, actions were taken to dispose of inert materials and encapsulate the waste, while a group of experts was on site to measure air pollution. The operational forces will continue today to fully extinguish the fire.

* Finiq Municipality: Fire between the village of Grazhdan (Livadhja unit) and the village of Malçan (Dhivër unit). The situation is calmer and the intensity of the fire has decreased. The fire is being monitored by a fire truck with 3 firefighters and employees of the Forest Service in the village of Malçan.

* Tirana Municipality: In the village of Bulticë, Vaqarr unit, in an area with bushes and thorns. The difficult terrain makes it impossible for vehicles to pass. The intervention with operational forces and the Cougar helicopter will continue today.

* Has Municipality: In the mountainous area between the villages of Gjinaj and Domaj, in an area with pine forest. Wind and rugged terrain make intervention difficult, but work to control the flames continues.

Fires have been recorded mainly in areas with bushes and vegetation.

In two cases there was material damage:

– Fier Municipality: In the village of Seman i Ri, a house caught fire. The owner was transported to the Regional Hospital and the house suffered damage to furniture and electrical appliances.

– Municipality of Vora: In the village of Fushë Prezë, a hay barn caught fire, burning 1,600 bales of hay. The investigation team is working to determine the cause.

The following were involved in the firefighting operations:

– 21 fire trucks

– 190 operational forces

– 35 Armed Forces personnel

– 2 military fire trucks

– 4 dump trucks

– 1 tractor with chains

– 1 Cougar helicopter

– 1 group of experts for measuring air pollution

– 29 private company vehicles

Civil Protection structures are maximally engaged in coordinating and supporting all operations for managing fire emergencies.

According to the forecasts of the Institute of Geosciences, today light local rainfall is expected in several regions. Regarding fires, a “HIGH” risk level is expected in almost all regions. Only in the regions of Durrës, Korçë and Vlorë is a “MODERATE” level expected, with a “HIGH” local risk in certain areas (Durrës – South, Korçë – Center, Vlorë – North-Center).
