Everyone wanted to see him at the Blaugrana, but Nico Williams rewrote the future. The Spanish star made a bold move - and chose to stay at home.
The transfer saga is over. After weeks filled with rumours, cryptic social media hints and headlines linking him to FC Barcelona, Nico Williams surprised everyone with a twist worthy of a soap opera: he will stay at Athletic Club.
The Basque club announced this on Thursday with a video on their social media accounts, where Nico delivers a powerful message: "I am where I want to be, with my people."
In his statements, Nico showed maturity and love for the club that raised him. The Spanish international - one of the standout players at Euro 2024 - not only chose to stay, but also signed a new deal until 2035, with a release clause that increases by more than 50% compared to the previous 58 million euros.
