'We have low voltage, our equipment is burning'/ Residents of Peshkopia have had energy problems for 30 years

'We have low voltage, our equipment is burning'/ Residents of

Residents complain that even though they have bought a stabilizer, their problem remains because household electrical appliances do not work and burn out. An electrical cabin was built where they installed a transformer a year and a half ago, but the problem has remained the same. People get up at night when the high current comes to do some work to fill water or other work. Residents tell Fiksin that the voltage ranges from 80 to 300 volts and the electrical wires are from the 70s. In bad weather, residents are left without electricity.

Another resident complains that even though he has installed an air conditioner for over a year and a half, he may have only done 10 hours of work in total. "The air conditioner doesn't work, but even the refrigerator doesn't work with this energy and I bought two stabilizers," says one of the residents.

When asked if they have a specific time when the electricity comes back on normally, the residents say that it only comes on at 05:00 in the morning and they notify each other by phone. With the electricity they have, they only have to turn on one household appliance, if two are turned on, everything goes out. The neighborhood currently has a newly replaced transformer two months ago, but this has not fixed the situation.

About this problem of the village of Rreth-Kale Fiksi was interested in the General Directorate of OSHEE. Ardian Kala, director for media, said that after signaling the show they had received the relevant information. "Like this village in that area there are several other villages and the problem lies in their large extent and that they are far from the areas, where the substations and the electrical network are" explains Mr. Kala. He also claims that immediately after receiving information from Fiksi, a working group went to the village to see the situation and find an immediate, not long-term solution.

"There needs to be an intervention from the cabin, the infrastructure of the poles to the ABC safety cables. These cables also resist weather conditions. But the entire area needs a proper investment and with the 2025 budget this village and some others will have a final solution with a regular supply of electricity."  concludes the OSHEE media director./TCH
