Don't make fun of the highlanders, Elisa!

By Lisandër Hoxha
In the middle of Parliament, comrade Elisa could not contain the usual Renaissance bitterness: "Don't act like you came down from the mountain". An arrogant, contemptuous expression that lowers the political debate into the mud of primitive hatred.
If being a highlander is an insult, then we are insulting 70% of the territory of Albania, because this country is mainly mountainous. We are insulting our history, culture, identity.
But this is not the first time that the "spordhickas" of this government vent hatred against the highlanders. Don't forget that Hajdute Xhaçka also attacked directly on public land, just so that "those from the mountain" wouldn't come and pitch their tents there.
This hatred towards the highlanders is a feature of this government. They have it deeply rooted in their small minds and their black souls. We see it everywhere: in the lack of investment, in the depopulation of mountainous areas, in the scarcity of doctors, teachers, services, infrastructure.
But why? Why this anger towards people who have chosen to live among the mountains to preserve their freedom and dignity? Is it precisely that free spirit that bothers them? Does the fact that those who overthrew their communist fathers came from the mountains still burn them? Or are they still haunted by the fact that in those mountains the Slavic expeditions were defeated and the Open Balkans could not be created 100 years ago remained a hostage?
What drives them to sow national contempt instead of building bridges of unity?
Elisa, politics has debates and polemics. But public contempt towards an entire category of Albanians is inexcusable. Even more so when it comes from the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania.
Shame, Elisa!
Come out and publicly apologize! Highlanders are proud people, with a rich cultural and historical heritage that honors Albania. This country is as much theirs as anyone else's. If you don't accept that, you don't even have a place at the head of Parliament.
