Fire situation in the country, 29 fires reported in 24 hours

During the last 24 hours, 29 fires have been reported, of which 2 are still active.

These fires have been identified in the municipalities of Elbasan, Finiqi, Selenica, Vlora, Memaliaj, Libohova, Dropulli, Kamza, Tirana, Durrës, Kavaja, Rrogozhina, Fier, Divjaka, Vau i Dejës, Malesia e Madhe and Lezha.

Currently, the following outbreaks remain active:

– At the waste disposal site, in the municipality of Elbasan, where work continues to completely extinguish the fire.

– Meanwhile, in the hearth of the fire between the village of Grazhdan, administrative unit of Livadhja and the village of Malçan, administrative unit of Dhivër, municipality of Finiq, the situation is calmer today and the intensity of the fire has decreased, but the situation is being monitored.

As a result of the fires, which mainly affected areas with trees, bushes and grass, about 18 hectares and about 220 olive trees were burned.

64 firefighting vehicles and 252 operational forces were deployed in the firefighting operations. The Armed Forces also participated in yesterday's operations with 35 personnel, 4 firefighting vehicles, 4 dump trucks, and 1 tracked tractor.

Based on the forecasts of the Institute of Geosciences, a "HIGH" risk level for fires is expected today in almost all regions.

The entire civil protection system is monitoring the situation and ready to provide immediate support if necessary.

We reiterate our call for citizens to show maximum caution and responsibility in these days of high temperatures and increased risk of fires. To avoid any action that could cause a fire, such as lighting fires in open spaces, burning waste, or throwing flammable objects in nature.

Any fire incident must be immediately reported to local authorities.
