Weapons trafficked from Kosovo to Albania, two arrested, 8 pistols seized

Police have arrested two citizens from Kosovo who were trafficking weapons with the aim of selling them in Albania.

Sh. Q., 31 years old, and AM, 46 years old, were arrested at the place called "Ura e Hasit" and during the search of the vehicle in which they were traveling, the police found and seized 8 firearms, pistols.

It is suspected that they were going to sell the weapons to two other citizens who fled from the police the moment they were spotted.

"Work continues to arrest other citizens involved in arms trafficking and citizens who would purchase the weapons, whose identities are not being disclosed due to the investigation."

As a result of the investigative and operational work carried out by the structures of the Kukes Local Police Directorate, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Kukes, to crack down on the criminal activity of trafficking firearms from Kosovo to Albania, based on information obtained through operational channels, the police operation codenamed "Kalibri" was finalized.

As a result of the operation, citizens Sh. Q., 31 years old, and AM, 46 years old, both residents of Prizren, were arrested in flagrante delicto.

At the place called "Ura e Hasit", the Police services, during the search of the vehicle with the driver, citizen AM, and the passenger, citizen Sh. Q., found 8 firearms, pistols, which were seized as material evidence.

Investigations suspect that these citizens trafficked firearms from Kosovo to Albania, through the green border, and that they were going to sell them to 2 citizens who, upon seeing the police services, fled. Due to the investigation, we are not disclosing the details of these citizens. Work to capture them continues.

"The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Kukës, for further action," the police announced.
