The Complaints and Sanctions Commission (KAS) will meet today at 11:00 to decide whether the elections in the districts of Tirana, Durrës, Fier and Elbasan will be declared valid, after the recount of votes.

The Democratic Party – ASHM had requested invalidation and a repeat of the elections in several districts, but so far the requests have been rejected in 8 of them. In Durrës, 85 ballot boxes were recounted, most of them from the diaspora, but there was no change in the result.

In Tirana, obvious errors were found during the recount, while in Fier, the result for one mandate was decided by only 10 votes. The mandate went to Maldrita Bardho, but she refused, giving way to Zegjine Çaushi, who had done better in the first round.

KAS members also raised suspicions of electoral crimes by the tellers, but despite some changes, the composition of the new Parliament remained "intact".
