Salijanj's lawyer speaks out: It was a political sentence, according to

Ledion Braho, Salianj's lawyer, spoke after the court session at the Fier Court that decided on the conditional release of the former Democratic MP.

Braho told the media that Salijanj's conviction was political and the entire process against him was carried out unfairly.

The lawyer emphasized that according to procedures, Salianji should be released within today.

"Finally, there was a minimal element of justice, in my opinion the whole process is unfair. It was a political sentence, but today we managed to shorten it to less than two and a half months of the remaining sentence. But the procedures are that he must be released within today, so immediate release. Mr. Salianji explained that his battle was in the public interest.

"The Fier Court, after positive recommendations from the Fier Penitentiary Institution and the Probation Service and the Prosecutor's positive stance regarding the case filed by Salianji, accepted the request and decided on his early release on parole," said Braho.
