Veliaj's appeal to be heard today in the High Court

The Supreme Court will review today the appeal of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj.

Veliaj has requested his release from the cell, while the hearing will take place at 12:00 in the consultation room without the presence of the parties, with Judge Albana Boksi as rapporteur and members Medi Bici and Sokol Binaj.

The Mayor was arrested at the Municipality office on February 10 as a suspect in the criminal offense of “Passive corruption of high-ranking state officials or local elected officials”, committed in collaboration (9 times), “Laundering of the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity” and “Refusal to declare, failure to declare, concealment or false declaration of assets, private interests of elected persons and public servants or of any other person who has a legal obligation to declare”.
