Trump threatens to bomb Moscow if it attacks Ukraine

US President Donald Trump has said he tried to stop Russian President Vladimir Putin from attacking Ukraine by threatening to bomb Moscow in retaliation. Trump later claimed he had conveyed a similar warning to Chinese President Xi Jinping about a possible invasion of Taiwan, telling him the US would bomb Beijing in response.

"I told Putin, 'If you go to Ukraine, I'll bomb Moscow. I'm telling you, I have no other choice,'" Trump said.

"Putin said, 'I don't trust you.' But he trusted me 10% ," Trump added.

Trump, since returning to the White House, has taken a more positive line with Vladimir Putin than the Biden administration, but has recently expressed frustration with his resistance to a peace deal. On Tuesday, he said the Russian leader was talking a lot of "nonsense" about Ukraine.

The Kremlin has also reacted to this CNN article, saying that it does not know whether it was fake news or not.

"There is a lot of fake news today, often there is more fake news than real information ," spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

On Tuesday, Trump again expressed his frustration with Putin's resistance to a peace deal, complaining that the Russian leader was telling the US too many stupid things.

"I'm not happy with Putin. I'm very unhappy with them ," he said during a cabinet meeting.

During a fundraising event, Trump boasted that he had pressured wealthy allies to donate tens of millions of dollars to his campaign. In another, he previewed his administration's efforts to deport protesting students, in addition to recounting his exchanges with foreign leaders.

"One thing I would do is I would deport any student who protests," Trump said at a second fundraising event.
