Action in Theth, Bardhi: The true face of Rama, strong with the weak and weak

The head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted to the demolition of the huts in Theth.

He brought to attention the story of Bekim, a disabled citizen who survived a tragic fire and invested with effort and credit to build guest houses on ancestral land.

Bardhi emphasized that Rama had personally promised solutions to the residents, but then sent the vandals to destroy them.

Full reaction:

Bekim was not yet 1 year old when his mother left him tied up in the cradle and went to work. There had been a spark in the house and the cradle had caught fire. One of the neighbors had seen the fire and had rushed to take the baby out of the cradle. When the mother arrived at the hospital, she found the cradle burning outside and realized everything.

Bekimi lost both legs, one hand and suffered deep burns to his face in the fire. But Bekimi survived. He survived and refused to surrender to his fate. He was active in all the games and mischief of childhood, adolescence and youth with his peers. The children, young people, men and women of the village of Hot i Ri in Shkodra loved and supported Bekimi without making any distinction.

On April 30, 2024, Edi Rama had declared that the residents of Theth had built without permission because they had not been able to obtain ownership certificates and that the problem would be resolved within two months. Bekimi had heard this and a year earlier, with the camp's savings and a bank loan, he built 5 wooden houses in the village of Theth, on the land of his ancestors, known for the famous Tower of Confinement, where Dukagjin's men were stressed to find trust and protection.

Bekim's huts welcomed friends from all over the world, as his grandfather, Zefi, had once done. But a year later, Edi Rama had sent police, inspectors, tow trucks and trucks to demolish Bekim's huts. With all his savings spent, an unpaid loan and a state that has put all its strength against him, Bekim was lying today in front of the tow trucks and would not leave. This is the true face of Edi Rama: strong with the weak and weak with the strong.

While dozens of tower blocks, villas and resorts are being built on the coast of Tirana without the permission of the oligarchs, Edi Rama has decided to deal with Bekim's cottages on the land of his ancestors in Theth. Because he has neither the courage, nor the courage, nor the will to deal with the oligarchs and their unauthorized constructions, but only ruins and destroys the labor, sweat and savings of simple and impossible people like Bekim who have not stolen, usurped or obtained property through forgery and corruption, but have built on the lands of their ancestors.

In fact, Edi Rama's plan is clear. Instead of modest investments that local residents have made with their savings, changes to the law on protected areas have enabled the looting of properties for the construction of 5-star resorts for oligarchs in the heart of protected areas, such as the Theth National Park.

But, beyond politics, I call on Edi Rama and Benet Beci to remove the police, inspectors and their cadres and allow Bekim to enjoy the fruits of a lifetime of savings to make his dream a reality. Because people like Bekim must be supported, understood and helped, and in no way become an example of arbitrariness, abuse and illegality.
