Three shipments of strawberries imported from Greece have been found to be contaminated with pesticides.

The alarm was issued by RASFF, the European Commission's rapid alert system for food, which has signaled the presence of pesticides in strawberries.

A shipment arrived in Albania on April 1, where based on the controls carried out by the National Food Authority on the ground, it resulted that the product imported from Greece, after analysis, was found to contain residues of the pesticide Clofentezine, which poses a risk to human health.

The next shipment arrived in our country on March 17th and after analysis, the strawberries were found to contain residues of the pesticides Cyprodinil, Avermectin Bla and Fludioxonil, which pose a risk to human health.

Another shipment of pesticides-contaminated strawberries was seized on March 5 and after analysis, it was found to contain pesticide residues, Hexythiazox, which poses a risk to human health. All three shipments have arrived in Albania and the AKU announces that they were alerted by RASFF.

This scandal comes after salmonella-contaminated fillets were imported from Brazil. The AKU intervened after being alerted, removing tons of infected fillets when some had been consumed by consumers.
