Mark Antony Samson, a 23-year-old of Thai origin, has confessed in a 5-hour court hearing that he was the one who killed and then threw the lifeless body of Albanian student, Ilaria Sula, into a ravine. The serious incident occurred on the morning of March 26, at his apartment in Italy, where Ilaria had spent the night.

According to Italian media reports, Samson declared before the jury:
"I did it all myself," taking full responsibility for the crime and refusing to comment on the role of his parents, who were home the night the incident occurred.

He said that Ilaria had gone to his apartment on March 25 to return some clothes and then decided to stay there overnight to avoid public transportation. According to him, they had been in a relationship for several months, but had had ups and downs and had recently broken up.

After killing her, the 23-year-old man stuffed her body in a suitcase and then drove her away, abandoning her in a deep valley in an attempt to cover his tracks. He also admitted to cleaning up the crime scene at the apartment.

Currently, his parents are not under investigation, but the prosecution is investigating whether they had knowledge of or a role in actions that may have helped hide the body or clean up evidence.
