The Information Commissioner demands more transparency from public hospitals in
Public hospitals across the country have been recommended to significantly strengthen their level of transparency towards citizens. The Commissioner for the Right to Information and Personal Data Protection has sent a letter to almost all university, regional and municipal hospitals, requesting the regular and detailed publication of information related to their functioning.

In the official announcement, the Commissioner emphasizes that institutional transparency is not only a legal obligation, but also an instrument for strengthening public trust and facilitating access to important data for citizens.

To assist healthcare institutions in fulfilling this obligation, several key points have been identified that should be available on a regular basis and without the need to submit a formal request for information. These include data on:

The organizational structure of the hospital;
The services provided and the respective schedules;
The names and positions of the managers and responsible personnel;
Reports on the budget, tenders and procurement procedures;
Strategic plans, activity reports and ongoing projects.
The Commissioner emphasized that the published information must be updated every 24 hours, thus guaranteeing a continuous and accurate overview for citizens. At the same time, the importance of preserving personal data is emphasized, while respecting the legal principles of privacy protection and professional ethics.

This initiative comes at a time when demands for public information and clearer services from citizens are increasing, while many institutions have been criticized for the lack of access and bureaucracy that accompanies data collection.

The Commissioner remains committed to monitoring the implementation of this recommendation and providing technical assistance to institutions that encounter difficulties in fulfilling transparency obligations.
