Who spends more money, men or women? The statistics speak for themselves

The question of who spends more money, men or women, is not just a cliché debate on social media or at family dinner tables. International statistics provide a clear picture of consumption habits and financial management between the sexes.

According to data published by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics and other global analyses, men spend more overall, averaging $3,434 per month, compared to $3,237 spent by women. This difference is largely due to men's higher incomes, but also to their tendency to spend more on cars, technology, restaurants and entertainment.

On the other hand, women dominate spending on personal care, health, education and food, categories related to the well-being and basic needs of the family. But what makes the analysis more interesting is the fact that, although they spend less overall, women make about 85% of purchasing decisions in the family and are responsible for 89% of daily purchases.

Unlike men, women are more careful: they compare prices, use coupons, look for deals, and plan their budgets with priority on essential needs. Men, according to the same analysis, are more impulsive, especially when it comes to expensive or luxurious purchases.
