56-year-old Albanian man in Italy dies at work after being hit by truck

Tragedy in Vernio, Italy. A 56-year-old worker lost his life this morning after being hit by a truck.

Italian media report that the incident occurred on Via del Bisenzio, around 11 a.m., just before the residential area of ​​Mercatale.
The worker, of Albanian origin and Italian citizenship, was working on the road when the heavy vehicle was moving on its own, with no one in its path. He intervened to stop the truck, but was hit and crushed. The impact was fatal: the 57-year-old died immediately. The truck then ended up in the Bisenzio River.
According to statements from the Prato prosecutor's office, the 56-year-old was "engaged in unloading materials from a truck, parked on a sloping road". The vehicle then "lost grip and hit" the worker, killing him.
After the alarm was given on 112, rescue teams with an ambulance, a fire brigade and the municipal police immediately arrived at the scene. However, doctors only confirmed his death. The investigations were carried out by inspectors from the ASL Prevention Department.
The prosecutor's office "is carrying out an inspection and verification of the circumstances of the event to determine any criminal liability. It is being investigated for manslaughter". The truck and the accident site have been seized. The worker's body was taken away by the funeral services after permission from the judge.
