OpenAI has officially launched a powerful memory update for ChatGPT, enabling AI to remember details from your past conversations, making interactions more personalized than ever. Previously, ChatGPT's memory had to be manually enabled for certain items. Now, it can automatically capture and save details like your preferences, interests, or even recurring topics. For example, if you've mentioned that you're a baseball fan or prefer short answers, ChatGPT can include this context in future answers.

"This is a surprisingly great feature," OpenAI CEO Sam Altman posted, saying that it reflects a future where AI becomes "extremely useful and personalized."

Users still stay in control – the memory can be turned off at any time through the settings, and past memories can be managed or deleted in the "Manage Memories" section.

This feature is available now for ChatGPT Plus and Pro users (except in some countries like the United Kingdom, Norway, and Switzerland). Team, Enterprise, and Edu users will have access in the coming weeks.

With this update, OpenAI continues to push forward a vision where AI is not only responsive – but deeply tailored to your life.
