Serbian Historian: Europe’s Greatest Enemies, Serbia’s Best Friends

“After Putin’s aggression to Baltic area and the Black Sea in 2014, by which he divided Ukraine and annexed Crimea, China’s ‘Belt and Road’ project became the greatest security threat for European democratic order”, historian Nikola Samardzic, professor at Faculty of Philosophy wrote in a text published by Danas daily.

“The Chinese project is a direct and long-term danger for European unity, democracy, rule of law and environment. The Chinese breakthrough would include the following disturbances of European order: corruption of officials and whole governments, breaking the principle of equal fair trade, damaging the market with damping prices, non-transparent agreements (chapters 5 and 8 in negotiations with the EU), espionage, destruction of the environment.

“Serbia has taken over a pitiful role in this process. By leaning on Russia and China, Serbia is restoring a concept of national communism, which includes giving up, exactly by the Chinese example, from European integration and peaceful regional cooperation. The concept of Asian Serbia is currently tacitly approved by the government and the majority of currently relevant opposition forces. The schizophrenia of the alleged vacillation between the East and the West has been brought down to the basis of the society that has lost the ability to clearly decide which way to go in any way.

“European integration process is complex and comprehensive, exclusive regarding social and ideological deviations. Giving up to neo-Stalinist or neo-Maoist slavery does not take any effort from the institutions nor activism that would include the ethics of responsibility for the future.

“Currently, Serbia is the only former Communist country ready to go back to be a part of Soviet Union. By corruptive arrangements, natural resources, infrastructure, communications, but also official policy is surrendered to the Chinese state-party led companies.

“American Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called the British officials to oppose the access to the new 5G network to the Chinese Huawei company. The US views towards China are clear: corruption, espionage, and destruction of fair and free trade.

“’ China is offering corrupting infrastructure contracts in exchange with political influence’. ‘China’s diplomacy is using the traps of debt slavery and it is fueled by bribery and it destroys good management and threatens to the economic model of a free market that many countries depend on’.

“For Serbia, China is a source of cash in corruptive contracts. China is supporting the platform of Vojislav Seselj and Karic brothers, which is more mildly interpreted by the government, currently restraining from the more direct violence in the wider specter. China supports freezing of the conflict with Kosovo and this state is the framework of extremism and self-isolationism towards the European world in the past 30 years.
