Chicken fillet with salmon on the market, Denaj 'washes his hands': The issue belongs to economic crime

Chicken fillet with salmon on the market, Denaj 'washes his hands':

About 8 tons of chicken fillet were blocked two days ago by the National Food Authority after it was contaminated with salmonella.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, has reacted for the first time on the case. She was asked by Euronews Albania, while in Athens, about the meeting that Prime Minister Rama held with Albanian immigrants.

Asked about the salmonella-tainted chicken fillets that were sold on the market to Albanian consumers, Denaj said that the AKU has fulfilled its duty and that the issue now belongs to the relevant institutions, removing responsibility from the ministry it heads.

"The situation of the AKU is clear; the agency has performed its duty and carried out the necessary controls. Of course, the news has been made public, the analysis results and the entire control chain have been confirmed, for which the AKU has denounced those who have violated the protocols. The matter belongs to institutions such as economic crime, the police, which must give the appropriate judgment. There is no politics with food, it is very important that the statements in the media by state institutions are verified. Not only have we reacted, but we have also brought the issues to the attention of the institutions. But, there is no politics with food, the institutions are there to guarantee the implementation of the protocols, which are written and implemented by us. I am always at the service of clarification, but only for the public," declared Denaj.
