Prime Minister Edi Rama recently shared on social networks a photo with a view of the ships that left Albania in 1991, making a comparison with the Italian tourists who are visiting Albania this summer season.

"Albanians go to Italy, 1991. Italians go on vacation to Albania, 2023," says the caption accompanying the photo published by Rama.

This post seems to have caught the attention of the Italian media. In an interview given to the Italian media "La Repubblica", the head of the government said that he fell into a trap and that he was not against Italy.

"I fell into a trap. I thought it was the headline of an Italian newspaper. Instead, the social media guys told me it was a meme… I posted it because this is a special moment for us. The numbers are impressive. Tourism growth is 35% and is heading towards 45%. Only half a million Italians. It was not a provocation. I am in love with Italy ," added Rama.
