Albanian cocaine gang busted in Germany, uncle and nephew 'heads' of

A joint operation 'La Familia' between German and Austrian police hit an Albanian drug trafficking gang.

The Albanian gang was led by an uncle and nephew. Together, they had set up a drug trafficking network.

 The uncle was based in Duisburg, Germany, while the nephew operated in Lower Austria.

The operation took place at several different points. As a result, 9 kg of cocaine, 64 kg of cannabis and 44 thousand euros in cash were seized.

 "The Albanian criminal group is strongly suspected of having circulated a total amount of at least 32 kg of cocaine and 65 kg of herbal cannabis worth around 2.5 million euros in the Vienna area from the summer of 2020 to May 28, 2025," local authorities said.

Police announced that 9 Albanians and one Slovak have been arrested.
