How often should you reapply sunscreen?

Using sunscreen is essential to protect your skin from ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which can cause sunburn, premature aging, and an increased risk of skin cancer. But it's not enough to just put it on once a day; how often you reapply is also important.

General rule:

Reapply every 2 hours when exposed to the sun, even if you don't feel like you're burning.

In these cases, you should reapply immediately:

After swimming – Even if you use a “water-resistant” cream, the protection weakens after contact with water.

After excessive sweating – Sweat can remove the cream from the skin.

After wiping with a towel – The towel mechanically removes the cream from the skin.

Useful tips:

Use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, and make sure it is broad-spectrum (protection against both UVA and UVB rays).

Apply a generous amount; about 30 ml is needed for an adult body.

Don't forget areas like: ears, neck, lips (with SPF balm), and the tops of your feet and hands.

Even on cloudy days, UV rays penetrate, so use sunscreen every day, not just at the beach.
