Iran retaliates against US, attacks US air base in Qatar with missiles

Dozens of explosions were heard over Qatar's capital, Doha, on Monday, a witness told Reuters , shortly after a Western diplomat said there had been a credible Iranian threat against the US-run al Udeid air base in the Gulf Arab state since midday.

A US report previously clarified that six missiles were launched towards this target.

The diplomat spoke shortly after Qatar announced it had temporarily closed its airspace to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.

Previously, the US embassy in Qatar had advised Americans to shelter in place, due to what it called "an excessive amount of caution."

All this comes after the US carried out airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend.
