Second outbreak of plague in Korça, over 190 heads of cattle destroyed

Veterinary authorities have confirmed today the second outbreak of plague in the Korça region, specifically in the village of Shkozë in the Maliq municipality.

According to official sources, the outbreak of the disease was identified on a farm owned by citizen Enkel Shkëmbasi.

As a preventive measure, around 192 heads of cattle have been ordered to be destroyed, while the risk of spread in the area remains very high. There are several other gatherings of animals around the farm, with distances ranging up to 500 meters, bringing the total number of endangered heads to around 5,000.

All necessary procedures are being implemented to eliminate affected animals and a security perimeter of 3 to 10 kilometers around the identified outbreak is being monitored with reinforcement.
