3.4 years in prison for Tahiri, Vezaj: Sentenced as a hashish user. He can stay

Journalist Flamur Vezaj from Boston has described a sentence of improper level of 3.4 years in prison for former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri.

Speaking on a Skype connection on Top News' 'Politiko' show, Vezaj says Tahiri was convicted as a hashish user.

"I was expecting a sentence a long time ago. I was waiting for another sentence because we had different experiences in Albania. He made the car available to a structured criminal group. The court, being in positions when the prosecution did not do its job properly, ended up in such a sentence, so cannabis users are punished for 3 grams of hashish. A 22-year-old man in Rrogozhina was convicted and hanged himself.

"The directors he appointed have been convicted of drug trafficking, the two main accomplices of Tahiri were arrested for drug trafficking and the interior minister pretends to be a virgin as if he had no knowledge" , said Vezaj.

Asked if Tahiri is a 'political victim' of strong pressure from embassies or the opposition to meet the needs of political theater as if justice is working, Vezaj says cannabis was not just Tahiri's will.

"Tahiri, I am convinced that he has other information as a former minister. Kananbizim was not only Tahiri's will.

Tahiri will spend 5-6 months in prison and then enjoy the economic aspect. "With this decision, SPAK is probably not at the right level to close the story with that" , said the journalist.
