A serious incident has been recorded in Kostur, near the border with Albania, where a 41-year-old Greek man was taken hostage and raped. The victim got into the vehicle of a 37-year-old Albanian man, who, under the threat of a gun and using violence, took him to a forest area of ​​Kostur.

The 41-year-old, under still unclear circumstances, managed to be released and reported the incident to the police. Immediately after the report, authorities identified the vehicle used for the kidnapping, which turned out to have been rented.

Police spotted the vehicle in the Kostur area, with a 29-year-old Greek man as a passenger and a 25-year-old Greek woman as the driver inside. Investigations revealed that it was the 29-year-old Greek man who had rented the vehicle and given it to the Albanian to carry out the hostage-taking.

Suspected of drug-related accounts laundering.
According to preliminary investigation data, the incident is related to drug-related accounts laundering. The arrested have a problematic past with the justice system.

The 29-year-old Greek and the 37-year-old Albanian were arrested on December 11 of this year for two different matters, but were later released.

The Albanian was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison and a fine of 3,000 euros for violating the law on foreigners and for giving false testimony.


The Greek was arrested after a search of his residence, where quantities of drugs such as marijuana, hashish and cocaine, 2 pistols, ammunition and a sum of money were found and seized.
