Petition of residents in Kombinat, Meta: Government and municipality to withdraw, aim at seizing property and erecting towers  

President Ilir Meta was acquainted with the petition sent by a group of citizens of the Kombinat area.

According to the head of state, under the pretext of rebuilding properties damaged by the earthquake and building a new development zone, the Government and the Municipality of Tirana with pressure and violence are including within the plan for demolition properties that were not affected by the earthquake, without informing owners.

Meta has called on the government and the municipality to immediately withdraw from any unconstitutional procedure aimed at seizing the private property of citizens for the construction of multi-storey towers.

In an unconstitutional, violent and non-transparent manner, the Government still in office and the Municipality of Tirana have started a process of destruction for the properties of the citizens in the area of ​​"Kombinat" in Tirana.

I am familiar with the petition sent by a group of citizens of this area and I have officially asked, since February 2021, the Government and the Municipality of Tirana to evaluate the complaints submitted with objectivity and impartiality.

So far no serious commitment from them, to reflect the resolution of issues rightly raised by these citizens.

Under the pretext of rebuilding property damaged by the earthquake and with the alibi of building a new development area, the Government still in office and the Municipality of Tirana seem to be pressuring and including in the plan for demolition properties that have not been affected by the earthquake , without informing the owners what fate awaits their assets.

In this way, the still incumbent Government and the Municipality of Tirana are intervening forcefully on the lives and future of hundreds of families, creating an insecure legal situation and inciting an unnecessary social tension in this area.

I call on the still incumbent Government and the Municipality of Tirana, to immediately withdraw from any unconstitutional efforts and procedures, aimed at seizing the private property of citizens for the construction of multi-storey towers in this area of ​​Tirana, but to guarantee a fair and objective solution. as provided by the Constitution.

Article 41 of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania guarantees the private property of every citizen.

Therefore, there is no DCM or Normative Act that could violate this sacred right or worse, forcibly remove citizens from their property, without a proper legal process.

Thanking the citizens of "Kombinat" for the concern they have conveyed to me, I guarantee that I will protect their constitutional rights by all democratic and legal means.
