New rules for scooters, night traffic banned, fines for users

Scooters in the capital have become a concern for circulation. The vehicles in question are used by many citizens, but they often become a source of accidents.

For this, the Traffic Police of Tirana, in cooperation with the Municipal Police, have launched an awareness campaign, which will then follow the punishment of any citizen who does not respect them.

Based on the law, users are prohibited from making sudden detours and zigzag movements on the road. Also, users must stop at road junctions and intersections, and must have a vehicle in good technical condition.

Other rules provided in the Code are the obligation to move with a protective case, if they are going to turn left or right, to give a hand signal, as well as to respect the number of people who can ride on it.

Unlike how they have operated until now, scooters will begin to be banned after sunset, or even during the day when atmospheric conditions require lighting, pedal vehicles and electric skates that are not equipped with this signage cannot be used, but must to hold hands.

The code also provides for fines from 250 to 1,000 ALL and for those with two drivers from 500 to 2,000 ALL.
