Himara, barefoot

Himara, barefoot

Alfred Lela

The poet Xhevahir Spahiu has a verse: "Barefoot olive trees, shores are lonely." I remember seeing the prime minister of my country, barefoot and cross, who entered the olive groves and beaches to replace them with the concrete of the resorts in that beautiful strip of the homeland, where you won't be lonely for a second. Thanks to this intervention, the sea will come out to the sea, the shores with olive trees and now swimming pools.

Unfortunately, this will be the epitaph on the sarcophagus of Himara and the entire coast now that, for Rama's victory, the Internet's polyphonics are weaving songs that can be found even in the quarries of 'strategic investors'. The persistence of an economic-political-media clique will uproot and change everything in the name of profit, not understanding that the homeland is the mosaic, especially of places where you go for pilgrimage, not for the beach, not to earn or have fun.

These postmodernized pirates, who believe in the fast lek and know the Albanian who runs away and sings to the tribe or from the bar houses in England or the emergency rooms in Germany, will also enjoy Himara.

The fact that Rama enters the South with a 'Greek' of his own, replacing the Doctor's 'renegade' with a guy with a PhD in 'renegade studies', comes as a cold mockery to the iso-bearers. They and those who, after decorating Tirana with construction, moved to the Coast. When they make it ugly, they will be stuck in Italy and Greece and laugh at us from the opposite shores.

Only those who endured the destruction and lost their minds will remain here, hearing and accepting that this is not destruction but modernity, the right path, the only direction, Albania 2030.

There are, of course, many ways to see the defeat of the opposition in Himare and the triumph of the government. The first is that there is neither defeat nor triumph. The parties are caught in a torturous game, in which, according to YN Harari, "there is no longer any ideology". Until a new one is formed, this confusion without an idea will continue. Edi Rama still clings to the old lies, so big that they have not yet been consumed, such as free healthcare. Sali Berisha is stuck in a "missionary position", with the burden of a mission at a time like ours, which does not recognize or accept any mission, and has the only mission... not to undertake any such.

Paradoxically, what the economic liberals (not social, lest Goxhaj get angry, the only pillar of Randian conservatism in Albania) sought for decades, the famous laissez-faire, has passed from the realms of economics to those of spirituality. Nothing penetrates a soul that seeks to eradicate all pain and suffering and live in the empty dawn of the promise that the serpent made to Eve in the biblical garden.

Alas, we can be as biblical as Himara allows us. This strip of land is full of Greek skirmishes on Albanian soil. After expelling a Greek-like Beleri, who came out of the belly of the donkey of Troy that Agamemnon-i.e., the Doctor had inserted, that is, through Odysseus Vangjeli (not Lenci, but Dule), Rama brought his evangelist, also cooked in a Greek pan.

To fight for Albanianness with our Greek, ie. Or: "My feta cheese is better than yours" (and it brings all the boys - the strategic ones - to the yard).
