Tensions in the north of Kosovo, the Serbian list presents two demands for the

The head of the Serbian List, Goran Rakič, said that there are two requests that he has forwarded to KFOR representatives and foreign ambassadors in Pristina, so that the Serbian protesters are withdrawn from the municipal buildings in the north, where they have gathered.

"Our demands are that the sheriffs - as they call themselves - illegal, go to their homes and guide their relatives. And, all the special units in the municipality building, around the municipality, should be withdrawn to the south, because this is not a police station, it is the city hall", said Rakiq, speaking from Zveçani.

On May 29, Serbs are protesting in front of the municipal buildings of Zveçan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok, opposing the new Albanian mayors of these municipalities.

The Kosovo Police, but also troops of the NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, KFOR, have increased their presence in the north.

The vice president of the Serbian List, Igor Simic, said that the protesters will stay until the demands presented are met.

"We will not leave until they withdraw. We expect KFOR to remain neutral to the status quo, not to provide protection to illegal para-police units, to maintain peace because we are interested in peace. Citizens came here to protect peace and their families," he said.

After the increase in tensions in the north on May 26, Lista Serbe has asked the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and the Serbian Government to interrupt or suspend the dialogue with Kosovo, which is mediated by the European Union.

On May 26, the Kosovo Police assisted the new mayors to go to their offices. This was opposed by local Serbs, who clashed with police officials.

The actions of Pristina have been severely condemned by the international factor, which has asked the Government of Kosovo to give up "violent measures". The new Albanian mayors were elected on May 23, after the previous municipal mayors from the Serbian List resigned in November of last year.

This party abandoned all the institutions of Kosovo, due to the decision of the Government in Pristina to carry out the process of re-registration of cars with illegal Serbian license plates.

The elections were boycotted by the majority Serb population in that area, which now does not accept the results, namely the new mayors. /REL
