Mustafaj: Proud of the worthy campaign of the DP

Invited to Syri TV, the Spokesperson for the DP Electoral Campaign, Andi Mustafaj, commented on the DP campaign and the opposition's program for the future government, but also the State Department's decision regarding the leader of the DP, Berisha.

Andi Mustafaj: We have seen growing enthusiasm everywhere we have gone. A confirmation once again of what they were expecting.

It's something that takes time to break because we've always had the hope that the internationals would make the right decisions in our country. And for a long time they made those right decisions until we became a little lazy, intellectually lazy I call it, and we didn't play that balance of power. Because international politics is a shifting balance of power.

It can change at any moment as long as you don't do your job. And unfortunately for us, Rama, Vučić and others have played a bad, but effective game of their kind in international lobbying.

Citizens on the ground welcomed this confirmation as a personal confirmation, as a boost they needed to get through the campaign. Even though it is the removal of all the excuses that were placed against us.

This was the last barrier placed against the Democratic Party and the Democrats, but now even the citizens have understood this.

Because all these years they found false excuses to oppose the DP. No, you don't have the seal, no, you don't have the unity, no, you don't have allies, no, you don't have the youth, no, you don't have experienced people, you have the president under house arrest, not on grata.... So all the excuses.

This is in honor of all the leaders of the Democratic Party and all the democrats who have worked tirelessly over these years with conviction to get where we need to go.

So the citizens on the ground know that this was the last obstacle. Only this one remained. We had solved all the others in time. And the fact that it was removed. It has given them a confidence, an enthusiasm, a boost that I am convinced will have an impact on the May 11 elections. I am not talking only about the Democrats but also about ordinary citizens who, perhaps due to the incessant propaganda, have had a kind of steppe.

Autocratic regimes sow fear. And they are sustained by the perception of a permanent climate of fear where citizens are pressured, tense, and make wrong political decisions because they are not aware of the power they have as citizens.

So the last obstacle has fallen, and citizens will be able to choose with their conscience.

They saw a positive campaign on the program for the people, with no violations committed by the Democratic Party. And I am very proud of that. We ran the best possible campaign in the most difficult conditions against an autocratic regime and we showed Albanians that we have risen to the level that responsibility demands.

Mr. Berisha, as the leader of the opposition, behaves as the leader of all Albanians. In all his speeches, he calls on the public administration not to be afraid. Everywhere he says that our program is for the left and the right. He tells the administration to do its part.

We have a great combination of the family model, the woman, the entrepreneurship model, the farmer. He has been behaving, for a long time, as the leader of all Albanians.

And in front of you is a prime minister of all Albanians, Edi Rama, who says don't go out to vote, you are like this, you are like this. He is a complete separatist. It is a shame. Because a day will come when Albanians will understand how strong the battle we have waged for progress has been. And he will punish and historically condemn Edi Rama for all this evil that he has done to the Albanian people.

Mr. Berisha has often said that in 12 years, even if we had been at war, so many Albanians would not have fled.
