DP reacts after the Government's decision to forgive fines: Flagrant violation of the law, attempt to manipulate the elections

DP reacts after the Government's decision to forgive fines: Flagrant

The Democratic Party has reacted harshly to the government's decision to forgive administrative fines imposed over a ten-year period, just two days before the parliamentary elections.

In an official statement, the DP describes this act as an arbitrary violation of the law and equality in the electoral race, accusing Prime Minister Edi Rama of using state institutions for the purpose of the campaign.

According to the opposition, this is a direct blow to the integrity of the electoral process and a blatant disregard of the OSCE-ODIHR recommendations and the resolution of the European People's Parties.

TIRANA- Statement of the Democratic Party of Albania

In violation of the Electoral Code and equality in the race, on the last day of the campaign, the outgoing Prime Minister signed a broad amnesty, arbitrarily violating, in the most anti-European way possible, the law and the rules of the race.

The same one who terrorized them for 12 years with taxes, fines and persecution, now acts as if he were merciful. There is not a single point of compassion in his heart, but only an appetite to disrupt the race, to change the will of the voters, to do tricks, using the state machine to help the party.

He did the same two years ago when, in the middle of the campaign, he gave a bonus to 670 thousand pensioners. The CEC in that case made a Lukashenkian interpretation, saying that, in local elections, it was allowed, but not in general. Now the law is violated in general elections.

What does Mr. Celibashi have to say?!

What about SPAK and the Prosecutor's Office, which have set up task forces to manipulate the elections, what do they have to say about this mega-violation?

The Democratic Party has in its electoral program the amnesty of fines and unpaid bills, but for the needy, for the impossible, not for the abusers. Our promise lies, but never in violation of the law, and in the violation of equality in elections.

With this action, Edi Rama openly ignores the recommendations of the OSCE-ODIHR and the EPP resolution, which conditions the country's integration with respect for the laws and rules of democracy. Edi Rama is a finer: from 20 percent of permits as mayor, to hundreds of millions of incinerators. With the false appearance as a finer in the 12th year of power, he does not lie to anyone.
