"You're doing folk!" / Rama keeps his nerves on the incinerators:

Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted in harsh tones regarding the debates on the incinerators, categorically denying that the state has made direct payments for their construction. During a public appearance, Rama did not hold back his nerves and called all the accusations of corruption in this case "folklore".

"Nothing has been paid for the incinerator! The other two incinerators were not made by the state, they were made by the private sector. The incinerators of Elbasan and Fier were built by the private sector and the state has periodically paid for the waste management service," Rama declared.

According to him, the payments were made for a contract in a public-private partnership, and not for the construction of the plants themselves. He emphasized that the state has implemented the agreement on urban waste management, distancing itself and the government from the issues of building incinerators.

"Your conversations about incinerators are folklore. It was not paid for the incinerator, it was paid for the service," said Rama, ironizing the debates that have followed this rumored affair for years.

Rama's statements come at a time when the topic of incinerators still remains in the center of public attention and investigations by justice bodies, including SPAK.
