Biden and Trump agree to televised debate

President Joe Biden announced that he has accepted an invitation from CNN to participate in a debate with his Republican rival Donald Trump on June 27.

Earlier today during the day, President Biden's electoral team had announced some conditions for participating in the presidential debate. Among them, was the format of the debate. President Biden rejected the traditional format of the non-partisan committee that has organized presidential debates for 3 decades.

The president requested that the debates take place earlier than usual and not in a hall with participants, but in a television studio.

Historically, 3 debates have been held, one in September and 2 in October.

The current agreement between the two rivals provides for two televised debates, one in June and the other in September.

Former President Trump's team has accepted the debates, but has not yet commented on June 27 and CNN's offer to debate the Democratic candidate.
