A 'mix' of coronavirus and flu has emerged in Israel. It is a variant called 'flurona'.

According to The Independent , the first case of flurona was recorded in Israel. The patient carrying the virus is a pregnant woman, who is in the hospital although the symptoms are mild.

"She was diagnosed with the flu and coronavirus as soon as she arrived," said Arnon Vizhnitser, director of the gynecology department at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.

"Both tests came out positive, even after we checked again. The disease is the same disease: they are viral and cause difficulty breathing as they both attack the upper respiratory tract," added Prof Wizhnitser.

Recall that Israel decided to give the third dose to the elderly, at a time when the omicron variant has significantly increased cases.
